Job Summary
This position is located on Colville National Forest. This is a leadership position assigned to a Ranger District with responsibility for directing, managing and supervising the natural resource planning, implementation and monitoring programs across multiple Districts on the Forest. Major Duties
- The incumbent is responsible for providing program development, coordination, leadership, guidance, and evaluation for wildlife, endangered species, fisheries, botany, archeological and water programs.
- Provides assistance to the District Ranger in administration of the unit including safety, information, public relations, education and technical work and planning related to ecosystem management of natural resources.
- Develops budget for the Natural Resources staff. Ties budget development to current and long range, District, Forest and Regional objectives, creating program emphasis that is responsive to future change.

Combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-0401-12 you must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-0401-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as some of the following: Participated in the management of soils, watershed, wildlife, fisheries, range, botany, timber, or threatened and endangered resources; Assisted in the preparation of functional resource and fiscal plans to ensure compliance with land management planning policies and regulations; Assisted in the review and evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of land management programs and made recommendations for improvement; Participated in the short-range resource planning, program direction, coordination and evaluation of the wildlife, fisheries, plants, vegetation management, soil and water and range programs and their related activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Pay Range
$74,596.00 - $115,313.00
