ASLO Past-President James Elser discussed what a scientific society is, and, what the benefits are to members with scientists over twitter. This led him into story for the Limnology & Oceanography Bulletin. He notes, "it's easy to assume everyone knows what a society is, and that up-and-coming scientists should know they should join one," but this assumption is a mistake, and he discusses this further, both in screen grabs from the twitter conversation, and in the post. ASLO, and multiple organizations participated in our 2015 Leadership Forum on the "Future of the Scientific Society," where leaders from AGI Member Organizations.
