DOI- The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is extending the comment period on the proposed rule for land acquisitions in Alaska, which was published in the Federal Register on May 1, 2014. The original comment period would end June 30, 2014; the BIA has added a 30-day extension. Comments on this rule must be received by the extended due date of July 31, 2014. DOI- To comply with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is inviting comments on a collection of information that we will submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. The information collection request (ICR) concerns a new survey on the potential impacts of Atlantic offshore wind energy development on coastal tourism and recreation. DOI- The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) is requesting comments for the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Fund— Fee Collection and Coal Production Reporting. Comments must be submitted by September 8, 2104. [Tuesday, July 8 2014 (Volume 79, Number 130)]

DOE- The Department of Energy (DOE) will convene a public meeting to discuss and receive comments on issues related to the Quadrennial Energy Review. The meeting will be held August 8, 2014 at 8:30 Central Time at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Student Center East, Illinois B Room, 750 South Halstead Street, Chicago, Illinois 60607. EPA- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the comment period concerning hydraulic fracturing chemicals and mixtures which was published in the Federal Register on May 19, 2014. NASA- NASA announces a meeting of the Planetary Science Subcommittee of the NASA Advisory Council (NAC). The meeting will be held for the purpose of soliciting, from the scientific community and other persons, scientific and technical information relevant to program planning. The meetings will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday, September 4, 2014, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at NASA Headquarters, Room 3H42, 300 E Street SW., Washington, DC 20546. DOI- The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has proposed a sale notice for commercial leasing for wind power on the Outer Continental Shelf offshore New Jersey. There will be two leases for sale; successful lessees will be subject to subsequent environmental and public review prior to development. Comments can be submitted electronically or postmarked no later than Sept. 19, 2014. [Monday, July 21 2014 (Volume 79, Number 139)]

DOI- The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) is seeking public comments in regards to a petition requesting a ban on visible nitrogen oxide clouds. Comments are due before August 25, 2014. [Friday, July 25 2014 (Volume 79, Number 143]

DOE- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) submitted a notice of proposed rulemaking to amend the filing requirements for natural gas pipeline system maps. The changes include requiring a pipeline system map to be updated on the pipeline’s website instead of submitting it in a tariff on file with FERC. Changes to pipeline systems would need to be updated on the maps quarterly. Comments are due September 29, 2014. [Tuesday, July 29 2014 (Volume 79, Number 145)]

DOI- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) gave notice of an open meeting of the Advisory Committee on Water Information. Meeting topics include broad policy-related topics relating to national water initiatives and a presentation on the water chapter of the Third National Climate Assessment. The meeting will take place August 19-20 at USGS in Reston, VA and a teleconference line will be available. [Tuesday, July 29 2014 (Volume 79, Number 145)]

OSTP- The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Economic Council request comments on updates to the Strategy for American Innovation that includes guiding policies on scientific research and development and other American innovation sectors. EPA- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to add global warming potentials (GWPs) for a number of fluorinated greenhouse gases (GHGs) and fluorinated heat transfer fluids (HTFs) to increase the completeness and accuracy of the carbon dioxide (CO2)- equivalent emissions calculated and reported by suppliers and emitters of fluorinated GHGs and HTFs. Comments are due by September 2, 2014 unless a hearing is conducted. [Thursday, July 31 2014 Volume 79, Number 147)]

DOE- The Department of Energy (DOE) announced a public meeting of the Quadrennial Energy Review Task Force to be held on August 8, 2014 in Bismarck, North Dakota. The meeting is entitled “Bakken Infrastructure Constraints” and will feature facilitated panel discussions, and an open microphone session with speaking slots available on a first-come, first- serve basis.
