Job Summary
This position is located on the Institute of Food Production and Sustainability in the Division of Plant Systems-Protection of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture in Damascus, MD.
Major Duties
- Participates in the development of program solicitations and regulations.
- Provides technical expertise in the development and implementation of the peer review process.
- Produces reports, statistical analysis and correspondence regarding the program.
- Assures consistency in program policies and practices.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade: Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level) Basic Requirements: 1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
AND
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Qualifying experience for GS-12 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-11 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. The specialized experience requirements for this position is experience participating in the monitoring of grantee performance; ensuring consistency in program policies; and participating in the development of program solicitations or regulations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
