Job Summary
This position is located in Resource Stewardship and Science, in the Natural Resources Division; studying, inventorying, monitoring, restoring, and managing non-native species and the habitats where they are found.
Major Duties
Identifies research needs and recommends request for proposal or statements.
Prepares management and scientific reports regarding the results of protection, mitigation, restoration, reintroduction, inventory, monitoring, and research activities.
Uses automated methods of data collection, analysis or illustration.
In cooperation with appropriate staff, researchers, and partners, the incumbent tests, and implements scientific monitoring protocols to identify, evaluate, and do short and/or long-term monitoring of natural resources.
Develops and maintains liaisons and effective working relations with related groups and individuals, agencies, and the public in order to encourage and facilitate cooperative regional management strategies.
Prepares specific resources action plans and strategies needed to successfully manage and protect natural ecosystems and environmental conditions.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/24/2019-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Basic education requirement: Have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
Have a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major, as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Specialized Experience for the GS-7:
Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at GS-05 level in Federal Service. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include: (1) collecting and/or evaluating field data from aquatic or terrestrial field studies; (2) carrying out field studies on plants or wildlife; (3) using taxonomic keys to identify plants and animals; and (4) collecting and/or entering biological field data into computerized databases. OR
Have one full year of graduate level coursework in a directly related field OR superior academic achievement at the bachelor's degree level. OR
Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized Experience for the GS-9:
Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at GS-07 level in Federal Service. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR
Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Only education in excess of a Bachelor's degree is creditable towar Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Pay Range
$47,016.00 - $74,759.00
