What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? Salary: $52,905 (Step 01) to $68,777 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired atthe Step 01. There is one vacancy; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.
Major Duties
As a Biologist (Outreach) within the Southwest Biological Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Writes short non-technical summaries and syntheses of diverse, technical research findings for a variety of communication purposes.
-Coordinates with administrative officer, scientists, and research managers to represent scientific and technical information in agency information systems.
-Integrates information from multiple units of work in deciding how to create products.
-Compiles information reported in other communication outlets or catalogued in other information systems to create one comprehensive set of agency records.
-Serves as the coordination linkage for the review and approval of scientific and technical information at a local level and between local and regional staff.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The work is mainly sedentary, but may occasionally, involve some time spend n various field research settings that require walking and hiking in remove, hot, and rugged desert areas, in both riverine and upland settings of the southwestern US, and possible exposure to inclement weather.

One year of appropriate professional experience in biology that is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service.
One year of appropriate professional experience in biology that is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-07 level work may include: 1) gathers, organizes, and interprets biological, ecological, pathological, public use, or other information pertinent to scientific studies and/or scientific investigations; 2) writes scientific summaries for a variety of communication purposes such as scientific briefings. For examples 1-2, the work involved following established methods and procedures, or detailed instructions; using some judgment in applying basic principles and procedures; solving minor problems and making routine decisions.
