Job Summary

This position is in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, Office of Pesticide Programs, Antimicrobials Division, Risk Assessment and Science Support Branch. If selected, you must work at the location stated in this announcement. About OCSPP:OCSPP

Major Duties

You will:

- Review, evaluate, and analyze scientific data on the effects of pesticides for use in the development of human and animal risk assessment;

- Use data manipulation techniques such as data integration, statistical analysis, and/or modeling to develop new approaches for the investigation of problems;

- Prepare analyses and reports on toxicological study data, hazard evaluations, conclusions, and other materials to be used in the development of criteria for registration and testing of pesticides.

- Keep up-to-date with current research by establishing and maintaining professional relationships within the scientific and academic communities.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently as your career progresses.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as reviewing scientific data to determine results; preparing reports relating to risk assessments in the areas of biology, toxicology and/or pesticides.

To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as evaluating risk assessments and/or characterizations relating to biology, toxicology, and/or pesticides to determine results; preparing reports to make recommendations.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Ability to examine data sufficient to assess risks resulting from pesticide usage; 2) Ability to conduct searches in a variety of scientific databases; 3) Knowledge of the adverse effects of pesticides on humans and animals; 4) Skill in performing data integration, statistical analysis, and/or modeling; 5) Skill in oral communication sufficient to present information to diverse audiences; 6) Skill in written communication to develop technical reports; 7) Knowledge of analytical techniques sufficient to asses risk of pesticide usage; 8) Ability to establish, build, and maintain professional relationships.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$83,398.00 - $128,920.00
