Job Summary
This position is located in the TCM-Geospatial Division, Fielded Forces Integration Directorate, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.
Major Duties
- Advise on fields of cartography, mapping standards, map production, quality control and finishing.
- Serve as Army Geospatial Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leader and Education, Personnel, Facilities-Policy subject matter expert for cartography.
- Develop emerging program and product specifications, schedules and monitors the development of geospatial initiatives.
- Serve as technical point of contact for the development and implementation of TRADOC Capability Manager Geospatial cartographic skill development and standards coordination.
- Provide cartographic products and services supporting Maneuver Support Center of Excellence training and education missions.
- Plan, coordinate and implement geospatial data projects.
- Produce Geographic Information System products.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in cartography, or a degree with a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites). OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: applying professional knowledge of cartographic sciences and mapping and related sciences and mathematics skills to plan, design, research, develop, construct, evaluate and modify mapping and charting systems, products and technology. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the specialized experience qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
