Job Summary

This position is located in the Directorate of Public Works, Master Planning Division, GIS Branch.

Major Duties

  • Maintain an expertise in cartographic techniques and knowledge of the installation's GIS and CADD concepts, terminology, and drafting capabilities to successfully accomplish project operations missions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Confer and work with Public Works and other installation customers to determine the information objective to be achieved and data to be presented.
  • Work with Public Works and other installation customers in developing printed material, exhibits and presentations which require specific visual materials to communicate information (i.e., photographs, diagrams, charts, slides, illustrations).
  • Utilize the GIS system to digitize natural resources, cultural resources, infrastructure and orthophotography in support of master planning, infrastructure maintenance and related project operations management plans and reports.
  • Assist Public Works and other installation personnel in understanding the uses of the GIS and CADD Systems.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Implements the use of appropriate software, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in order to create complex map products; AND 2) Manages tabular data files and linking them to geospatial datasets; AND 3) Clarifies scope of work in order to determine data requirements for a final product. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Cartography. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$62,236.00 - $80,912.00
