Job Summary

You will serve as a Civil Engineer (Structural) in the Capital Improvements Division of Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, HI. A Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) of 10.28% will be added to the stated salary.

Major Duties

  • You will represent NAVFAC in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
  • You will act as final authority on scope compliance and resolve design review comments with A/E firms to correct deficiencies.
  • You will utilize knowledge of structural engineering to develop complex designs and analysis for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects and/or conduct engineering studies.
  • You will serve as technical expert and provide structural engineering consultation and design to activities and tenants for a broad range of facilities, served by NAVFAC.
  • You will serve on various selection and evaluation boards for the procurement of professional services for new construction, renovation, or improvements of real property facilities.
  • You will participate in technical review of Structural Engineering design calculations, analysis, drawings, and specifications.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Current registration as a Professional Engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico is required. NOTE: YOU MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR REGISTRATION WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing structural engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations, studies, and performing design reviews for facility design projects in high seismic and wind areas; 2) Developing innovative solutions for structural engineering problems not readily treated by conventionally accepted methods; 3) Performing field investigations to verify and document existing structural conditions as a basis for the design of facility projects or to assist in resolution of construction issues; 4) Managing structural engineering facilities projects from cradle to grave with adherence to budget, schedule and quality standards; and 5) Serving on independent technical review teams and quality assurance (QA) teams for review of structural design documents. Pay Range

$94,071.00 - $122,296.00
