Job Summary

You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the RANGES, ENGINEERING AND ANALYSIS DEPARTMENT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. ND-5: Per 5 CFR 335.103(c)(3)(v), this is a non-competitive reassignment opportunity open to those qualified who hold (or have held) a position equivalent to (or higher than) an ND-05 (GS-14/15 equivalent) on a permanent basis in the competitive service.

Major Duties

**You will serve as the Chief Engineer/Scientist for the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, Newport RI.
**You will coordinate the development of technical solutions to significant program requirements and technical issues.
**You will ensure department roles and responsibilities to make appropriate recommendations to the Department Head and Division Newport management concerning range acquisition projects, rapid prototyping, as well as reliability and safety initiatives.
**You will lead and conduct risk assessment across all range and test and evaluation support activities ensuring full compliance with all higher level requirements.
**You will performs a variety of tasks involving the research, design and development of complex state-of-the-art electronic and mechanical equipment and systems.
**You will serve as a recognized expert and technical authority whose concepts and ideas form a basis for research or development initiatives for the department.
**You will serve as the Technical Authority for matters involving the assignment and exercise of Engineering Agent responsibilities within all assigned technical areas with emphasis on undersea Range Development including Undersea Ranges and Facilities and their development, waterside security, marine mammal systems, and related applications.
**You will responsible for the development of Department acquisition plans for all Undersea Ranges and Facilities, Special Projects, Marine Mammal systems, and Waterside Security.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer or Scientist coordinating the design and development of equipment and systems for an Undersea Range acquisition program. Pay Range

$98,366.00 - $166,500.00
