Job Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties

  • You will serve as an Engineer or Scientist in various departments of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division.
  • At the ND-2 and ND-3 levels, you will research and learn Navy structures and systems, including ship classes and shipboard systems.
  • At the ND-2 and ND-3 levels, you will assist in developing equipment and components to advance the technology and/or resolve problems associated with various Naval surface warfare systems.
  • At the ND-2 and ND-3 levels, you will conduct tests to determine new equipment capabilities, document results, and develop written plans and presentations of technical findings for higher-level review.
  • At the ND-4 level, you will serve as a subject matter expert for engineering or scientific programs within the organization.
  • At the ND-4 level, you will independently develop requirements, and design and develop products to support the development of the organization's systems.
  • At the ND-4 level, you will perform a variety of tasks in the design, analysis, test and evaluation, software development or operation of complex Naval surface warfare systems.

Qualifications

This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a General Engineer (0801-series), a Civil Engineer (0810-series), a Mechanical Engineer (0830-series), an Electrical Engineer (0850-series), a Computer Engineer (0854-series), an Electronics Engineer (0855-series), an Aerospace Engineer (0861-series), a Chemical Engineer (0893-series), an Industrial Engineer (0896-series), a Physicist (1310-series), an Operations Research Analyst (1515-series), a Mathematician (1520-series), a Mathematical Statistician (1529-series), a Statistician (1530-series), or a Computer Scientist (1550-series), depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. Applicants in positions with occupational series other than those listed (0801, 0810, 0830, 0850, 0854, 0855, 0861, 0893, 0896, 1310, 1515, 1520, 1529, 1530, and 1550) may apply; however, you must apply directly to the series listed in this flyer that is most applicable to your qualifications. TO QUALIFY FOR ND-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-9 through GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist applying a wide range of theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods of engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, statistics, or computer science to design, develop, or test complex systems. TO QUALIFY FOR ND-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-2 pay band (GS-5 through GS-8 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist applying theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies of engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, statistics, or computer science to assist in the design, development, or testing of complex systems; OR

***** Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows: A master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. TO QUALIFY FOR ND-02: You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study as described in the Education section of this flyer. $31,208.00 - $135,440.00
