Job Summary
This position is that of Environmental Engineer for the Great Plains Area Office (GPAO) of Environmental Health and Engineering, Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction, Indian Health Service, Pierre District located in Eagle Butte, SD. The purpose of this position is to assist in the project development, design, construction, as-built development, and project training of individual and community water supply, wastewater disposal and solid waste disposal facilities.
Major Duties
- Collecting and analyzing data on water distribution systems, water storage facilities, sewage collection and treatment infrastructure, and waste management systems for design of new construction or improvements to existing facilities.
- Performs duties concerned with the administration of contracts for sanitation facility construction; insuring construction adheres with designs, specifications and safety requirements.
- Provides direct supervision to two positions; performs site visits to obtain information; and makes recommendations regarding program use of various systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Ability to conduct sanitation, feasibility and engineering studies by collecting, defining and analyzing requirements. Providing engineering direction to comply with agency's priorities and goals, as well as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in implementing program policies. Coordinating projects for construction of water, wastewater and solid waste facilities, served as the Engineer in Charge of the development, planning, design, construction and post construction activities. Completing surveys to collect field data using levels, GPS, total station and other miscellaneous digital data collection equipment. Has the ability and experience to utilize PC and CADD (Autodesk Civil 3D) software to download/upload field data and integrate with modeling software for completion of facility designs and drafting digital drawings. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Pay Range
$64,009.00 - $83,210.00
