You will serve as a Interdisciplinary Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist in the Program Management Office of BASE REALIGNMENT AND CLOSURE PMO.
Major Duties
- You will advise environmental personnel and government officials on procedures in cleaning up contaminated sites to protect the public and the environment.
- You will recommend spill response techniques and cleanup measures to minimize the physical, chemical, or biological effects of hazardous waste on the environment
- You will oversee internal and external environmental assessments to ensure regulatory guidelines are being followed.
- You will implement Environmental Management System (EMS) programs to ensure that all operations are conducted within current and applicable environmental policy, instructions, and guidance.
- You will conduct briefings on environmental project issues to identify long-term solutions for environmental problems.
- You will lead conferences or meetings to discuss issues or to influence decision making.
- You will develop reports to inform management of major environmental and hazardous material problems and the development of programs and project solutions.
- You will serve as senior subject matter expert in environmental engineering for improvement projects.
Qualifications
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) if applying for the 0819 series. Your license or registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Do you meet this requirement? In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Providing program management support for environmental cleanup and compliance programs in accordance with environmental laws and regulations; 2) Conducting public outreach and seeking community input through the Restoration Advisory Board forum at a given military installation; 3) Negotiating environmental response actions with the U.S. environmental Protection Agency and State regulatory agencies; and 4) Proposing and implementing changes to existing agreements to achieve environmental cleanup objectives in a timely/cost effective manner. Pay Range
$99,170.00 - $128,924.00
