Major Duties
You will:
- Serve as the technical authority in providing expert advice and assistance to State, local and/or Tribal governments on matters relating to the development, execution and monitoring of the most complex and politically sensitive drinking water policies, plans and programs.
- Provide advice and assistance to state, local and/or tribal governments on matters relating to the development, execution, and monitoring of adequate drinking water policies, plans, and programs.
- Serve as a technical specialist involved in significantly complex drinking water programs that include a variety of controversial characteristics.
- Review, analyze, and recommend modifications of plans and/or programs developed by state, local and/or tribal government entities to implement various provisions of SDWA.
- Conduct and review sanitary surveys and follow up on unsafe samples at tribal water systems.
- Provide training to tribal operators on compliance with Safe Drinking Water regulations.
- Coordinate and train technical assistance providers on Drinking Water program materials and procedures.
Qualifications
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as applying knowledge of drinking water operations or concepts to provide technical assistance to external stakeholders and familiarity with the regulations under the Safe Drinking Water Act.To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as .Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Skill in applying drinking water statutes and regulations.
Skill in collaborating and communication with external stakeholders to provide advice and achieve consensus.
Skill in reviewing and providing recommendations on drinking water guidance, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of drinking water operations and ability to solve complex technical problems.
Ability to effectively communicate with external stakeholders.
Knowledgeable of drinking water processes and able to conduct field evaluations of public water systems.
Ability to train external stakeholders in regional program materials. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range
$74,596.00 - $115,313.00
