Job Summary

This position is located in Region 4, Air and Radiation Division, Air Analysis and Support Branch, Air Data and Analysis Section in Atlanta, GA. Major Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

-Provide overview and/or improvements in the operation of state, local, and tribal agencies' ambient air monitoring programs within Region 4;

-Guide audits, reviews, data validations, and quality control programs;

-Perform modeling analyses and special studies to assess air quality impacts in support of new National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS);

-Analyze data to determine risks and mitigation strategies for potential human health and ecosystem impacts of air toxics;

-Manage air quality related projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on technical initiatives.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-05 level defined as participating in air quality monitoring programs, use of air quality modeling, assisting in environmental program assessment, and/or working on air quality related projects-- OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition) degree in the academic discipline as described above.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1)Skill in data evaluation;2)Knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to air quality; 3)Skill in written communication; 4) Ability to perform reviews and/or audits; 5) Knowledge of State modeling guidelines and protocols; 6)Knowledge of air toxics; 7) Skill in oral communication; 8) Skill in project management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$44,223.00 - $58,172.00
