Job Summary

The selectee for this position will serve as an Environmental Protection Assistant at the NC-03 level (equivalent to GS/8-10) in the Research and Development Services Division, Technical Services Branch, Environmental Section of the NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY

Major Duties

  • You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, evaluating and reporting data and findings associated with the environmental program.
  • You will provide technical support for all facets of the compliance pollution prevention, and conservation programs.
  • You will be responsible for protecting and improving environmental quality and pollution control and remedying environmental damage.
  • You will perform field surveys and onsite assessments of all workplace facilities and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • You will maintain the environmental laboratory to the highest standards relative to methodology testing and quality control.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level NC-02 (GS 5-7) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Assisting in the collection, analysis, evaluation and reporting of data and findings associated with assigned environmental programs; 2) Providing technical support for all facets of the compliance, pollution prevention, and conservation programs as it relates to air/water quality, hazardous/non-hazardous waste and materials management, waste minimization and recycling, storage tanks, spills and emergency response; 3) Performing field surveys and onsite assessments including environmental sampling and testing; 4) Participating in the review of project plans, specifications, test plans and developing position papers; 5) Maintaining the environmental laboratory and; 6) Assisting other team members on compiling data, performing testing and collecting samples for project implementation, proposal and regulation development.. Pay Range

$50,863.00 - $82,820.00
