Job Summary
You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE located in Jacksonville, FL.
Major Duties
- You will inspect hazardous waste containers at pickup sites for structural integrity, accumulation dates, proper identification markings, and determine transportability.
- You will inspect and document hazardous waste storage facilities to measure compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
- You will inspect and inventory hazardous waste processed by Public Works Center (PWC) Jacksonville.
- You will gather data, and analyze, evaluate, consolidate, and report findings.
Qualifications
Outside applicants claiming VEOA, Interchange or PPP Military Spouse Preference (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service) must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Investigating hazardous material/waste spills, identifying the problems, and coordinating corrective actions; 2) Inspecting storage and treatment facilities for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; 3) Reviewing hazardous waste manifests to ensure proper documentation is provided; 4) Performing conventional field sampling and analysis of hazardous waste, water, soil, groundwater, and waste water using meters, color test kits, and titration procedures; 5) Physically transferring wastes from one container to another while selecting appropriate packing, shipping containers, and materials. Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Investigating hazardous material/waste spills, identifying the problems, and coordinating corrective actions; 2) Inspecting storage and treatment facilities for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; 3) Reviewing hazardous waste manifests to ensure proper documentation is provided; 4) Performing conventional field sampling and analysis of hazardous waste, water, soil, groundwater, and waste water using meters, color test kits, and titration procedures; 5) Physically transferring wastes from one container to another while selecting appropriate packing, shipping containers, and materials. Pay Range
$52,905.00 - $68,777.00
