Job Summary
This is an Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028-09/11 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Southwestern Division (SWD), Fort Worth District, Regional Planning and Environmental Center (RPEC). This is a permanent and full-time position with a duty location of Webb City, MO. This position may be filled at the GS-09 level with non-competitive promotion potential to the GS-11 level or at the full performance GS-11 level.
Major Duties
- Develops and conducts environmental investigations for a wide variety of customers involving military and civil environmental activities.
- Using available data from numerous sources, develops sampling programs and procedures, designs field and laboratory testing programs and participates in executing the field sampling activities.
- Provides recommendations for additional study/mitigation as needed.
- Provides field oversight at Superfund sites in a support role for Superfund Remedial Project Managers (RPM).
- Primarily working in a field environment (outdoors and not in an office), oversees the implementation of environmental characterization, cleanup, and construction activities at a variety of sites to include Superfund Sites.
- Oversees work accomplished by contractors.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. To qualify for the GS-11:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) conducting investigations involving military/civil environmental issues and communicating results; OR 2) conducting environmental studies and analyzing data results using applicable criteria, guidance and environmental laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Pay Range
$52,905.00 - $83,210.00
