Major Duties
At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Assist senior Sustainable Materials Management Coordinators to develop and implement regional strategies designed to create and coordinate projects, partnerships and initiatives with state and local governments, industry, trade associations, and nongovernmental organizations.
- Assist senior staff to provide scientific, programmatic, and technical information and to stakeholders on project activities to promote sustainable materials management approaches to minimize the environmental impacts of the materials.
- Assist senior staff in developing basic strategies and plans for communicating non-regulatory approaches, policy decisions and programmatic information to affected and interested parties.
When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.
Qualifications
You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-05 level defined asassisting senior staff on projects designed to reduce, reuse, and recycle wastes and materials. - OR 1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition) degree in an academic discipline related to this position.To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as implementing projects designed to reduce, reuse and recycle wastes and materials and assist senior staff on complex projects and developing regional strategies. - OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in an academic discipline related to this position.Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of environmental regulations, directives and principles related to waste reduction, sustainable materials management and/or conservation of natural resources.
Knowledge of waste reduction and sustainable materials management principles and practices to devise integrated approaches to reduce waste and minimize the environmental impacts of materials.
Ability to develop, implement and manage projects.
Skill in oral communication.

Pay Range
$45,918.00 - $73,013.00
