Job Summary

You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Major Duties

  • You will perform risk assessment by reviewing environmental procedures for safe handling, use, storage, and transportation of hazardous waste.
  • You will evaluate facilities used for operating or storing hazardous materials and waste to verify compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • You will brief management on environmental protection issues (e.g., spill response, hazardous waste disposal) to recommend pollution prevention measures.
  • You will review documentation (e.g., plans, specifications) to verify solid and hazardous waste management is included and that provisions exist for handling, storage, and disposal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing inspections of and recommendations to departments and tenant commands to ensure the proper management and disposal of regulated wastes; 2) Collecting samples of hazardous waste and material for proper analytical analysis; and 3) Assisting in the disposal, collection, and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous regulated wastes. Pay Range

$51,591.00 - $67,064.00
