Job Summary

Environmental Protection Specialist for the OEHE Field Office in Spokane, WA. Primary responsibility is work assignments related to pesticide management to protect agricultural workers, communities, water supplies and the environment and report to the EHS Director onsite. Major Duties

  • Responsible for educating applicators and the public about pesticide safety;
  • Provide technical assistance to applicators, as well as formal training on pesticide management;
  • Conduct overall pesticides assessments through direct observations, discussions with tribal governments, or appropriate research to determine the frequency and types of pesticides used;
  • Work with tribes to develop individual pesticide plans to identify and prioritize specific risk reduction activities and build local capacity; and
  • Compile quarterly and end-of-year reports to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on progress.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-12 GRADE LEVEL: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: managing an environmental protection program that includes education and outreach on worker protection, endangered species, water quality, and pesticide management. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Pay Range

$74,596.00 - $96,978.00
