Job Summary

The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest Employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Major Duties

  • Perform multi-media environmental inspections throughout the installation.
  • Implements environmental management policies and provides shop level support for the various environmental programs.
  • Assist in internal and external inspections such as Alabama Department of Environmental (ADEM).
  • Provide environmental guidance and training to shop personnel.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001, Environmental Performance Assessment Systems (EPAS) inspections.

Qualifications

The Modified Term employee must meet the following requirements for consideration: Be a Current Department of the Army Modified Term employee within the organization appointed under open, competitive examination to the Term position; and The Modified Term announcement appointed from stated the potential for subsequent conversion to a career-conditional or career appointment; and Must have completed at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service.

Performance rating showing they have performed at an acceptable level. Supporting documentation required, when applying under this Area of Consideration, is for the applicant to submit acceptable proof of their appointment eligibility by submitting a copy of your most recent Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) where block 24 must be a "3" AND block 34 must be a "1" documenting their modified term appointment AND a performance appraisal that shows performance at least at the fully successful level or higher while on the term appointment. US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in environmental engineering concepts, and principles related to environmental problems; analyze, prepare, and/or recommend modifications to environmental impact of installation activities on public safety, ecology, and environment related to public welfare and protection of natural resources; apply fact-finding, data-gathering and investigative techniques to gather clear-cut factual evidence of potential environmental problem areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
