This Environmental Specialist position is located in Fort Belvoir, VA. Fort Belvoir is approximately 15 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., five miles from Alexandria, VA and next door to the community of Mount Vernon, VA. Major Duties
- Serve as Staff Action Officer responsible for development and implementation of an assigned area of the Fort Belvoir environmental program.
- Plans and executes assigned program as it pertains to Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Program Internal Assessments, Environmental Reporting, EPAAS, and Emerging Contaminants.
- Manages all program budgets and project or budget submissions.
- Conducts detailed reviews of all Military Construction Army (MCA) and Operations Maintenance appropriations (OMA) projects.
- Assigned program includes surface water quality, drinking water quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, air quality, noise, sewage disposal,land use planning, resource recycling and conservation, storm water management, and construction design review.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Environmental Specialist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: development and implementation of environmental program consisting of surface water quality, drinking water quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, air quality, noise, sewage disposal, land use planning, resource recycling and conservation, storm-water management, construction design review, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Program Internal Assessments, Environmental Reporting, and Emerging Contaminants. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Pay Range
$83,398.00 - $108,422.00
