Job Summary

These Fish and Wildlife Biologist (Grants) positions in the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs of Region 1 and 7 are being advertised concurrently under R1-20-10748668-RR-MP for current and former federal employees serving under a competitive service career or career-conditional appointment or reinstatement eligible. Major Duties

The incumbent serves as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the respective WSFR Program administering Federal grants for wildlife and sport fish conservation and associated management, recreation, research, survey and inventory, habitat management, education, access, and land acquisition. Incumbent serves as a staff biologist and is responsible for the technical overview and environmental compliance of grants awarded under one or more of the following grant programs: Sport Fish Restoration, Wildlife Restoration, State Wildlife, Tribal Wildlife, National Coastal Wetlands, Aquatic Resource Education, Hunter Education, Boating Infrastructure, and Clean Vessel Act.

Qualifications

Only experience and education obtained by midnight (ET) 03/27/2020 will be considered. The 0401 job series has a basic requirement. You must possess one of the following:

A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to the basic requirement, to qualify at the GS-12 level you must possess at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level (comparable to GS-11) in the Federal Service that includes all of the following duties: 1) management of grants for fish and wildlife conservation; and 2) fish and wildlife project team member dealing with fish and wildlife conservation, management, or research, associated recreation and education, environmental compliance, survey and inventory, habitat management, and access facilities construction and operation. In addition to the basic requirement, to qualify at the GS-13 level you must possess at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level (comparable to GS-12) in the Federal Service that includes all of the following duties: 1) management of Wildlife Restoration, Sport Fish Restoration or State Wildlife grants; 2) reviewing proposed grant projects for biological integrity, environmental regulatory compliance, and eligibility for funding specific to habitat restoration, fish and wildlife conservation, or land acquisition projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion Potential: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-12/13. At lower grade levels, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12/13. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.The selectee may be promoted without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Pay Range

$81,875.00 - $132,637.00
