This position is located with the US Army Engineer District, Engineering and Construction Division, Hydrology and Hydraulics Branch, Water Management Section, Albuquerque, New Mexico. New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment and Albuquerque is home to the International Balloon Fiesta, the most photographed event in the world.
Major Duties
- Plans and implements feature classes and attribution of data and database structures.
- Serve as the district authority for GIS standard operating procedures.
- Develop GIS modeling and routines to aid in the collection, editing, manipulation and generation of geospatial data and the generation of GIS products.
- Generate digital terrain models, topographic contours and cross sections and uses this data to compute volumes and areas.
- Support the development and implementation of any District GIS and/or Geospatial Data implementation plans.

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning, developing and managing work plans to execute mapping and GIS tasks necessary to support a variety of projects
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range
$77,204.00 - $100,369.00
