Major Duties

The incumbent is responsible for the timely completion of technical geologic analysis and decisions related to the Oil and Gas Agreements, Drainage and Indian Diligence programs. The incumbent would also be responsible for the timely completion of Reasonable Foreseeable Development (RFD) scenarios for NEPA documents. The incumbent would primarily complete technical geologic analysis pertaining to Federal exploratory unit agreement designation, exploratory unit participating areas determinations and enhanced recovery agreements.

Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary with the exception of occasional field investigations which require walking and possibly climbing.

Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office setting. Field work involves walking or driving over rough terrain in remote areas in all kinds of weather. Field work involves risks inherent to surface and underground mining and requires use of personal protective equipment

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-11) of the position to be filled.To qualify for this position, you must meet the positive education requirement AND have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience for the GS-12:

Geology related work including aerial distribution, stratigraphic occurrence, nomenclature, structure, and correlations of the geologic units in order to evaluate fluid mineral resource occurrences and characteristics and methods, procedures and regulations governing the review and approval of exploratory and secondary unit agreements (including the establishment and revisions of participating areas) and communitization agreements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Pay Range

$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
