Job Summary
These positions are in the Office of Research and Development, Center for Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response, Groundwater Characterization and Remediation Division. One position will be filled in the Subsurface Remediation Branch and a second position will be filled in the Technical Support and Environmental Restoration Branch. Major Duties
At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Plan, initiate, conduct, and evaluate projects within the Groundwater Characterization and Remediation Division that aim to protect and restore subsurface environments and watershed ecosystems;
- Collaborate with Office of Research and Development and Agency scientists and staff to define problems associated with subsurface hydrologic research and develop organizational work plans that meet research priorities;
- Evaluate data and results generated from research projects and prepare reports of technical findings in peer-reviewed technical journals;
- Advise on matters concerning ground-water protection and remediation, and the hydrologic aspects of watershed ecosystems restoration;
- As Project Manager, evaluate proposals seeking funding through cooperative or interagency agreements and support work served under contracts.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

Qualifications
In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as utilizing modeling applications in subsurface and/or watershed research; and conducting technical analyses.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1)Skill in modeling contaminant transport and transformation mechanisms; 2)Skill in developing mathematical models for simulating geohydrologic interactions; 3)Skill in program management; 4)Skill in analyzing research results; 5)Skill in written communication; 6)Knowledge of watershed ecosystem restoration policies and procedures; 7)Skill in contract management.

Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
