Job Summary
This is an Interdisciplinary, GS-12 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Fort Worth District, Engineering and Construction Division.
Major Duties
- Coordinate the planning, design, cost engineering, construction, and environmental restoration of military and civil works projects of substantial scope and complexity.
- Make periodic visits to various projects within the areas for the purpose of investigation progress of work and construction methods used.
- Identify construction contract administration deficiencies during site visits.
- Coordinate directly with the area engineer/resident engineer in order to assist in the resolution of controversial construction problems and provide alternate solutions when appropriate.
- Identify controversies with contractors or using agencies and advises area engineer/resident on applicable policies and construction practices.
- Review and analyze requests for modifications to contracts made by higher authority, using agencies, field offices, contractors, or others having an interest in the work.
- Plan, coordinate, and review the preparation of construction contract modifications.
- Check revised plans and specifications to assure completeness of detail, clarity of design intent, and conformance to sound Government and construction industry practices.
- Assist in negotiations with the contractors where requested by the field office and, in some instances, leads the negotiations in difficult or controversial change orders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact to consult with technical, legal, and the Contracting Officer to resolve design conflicts, clarifications, administrative and construction problems during construction.

AND 2) Review modifications to contract plans and specifications. AND 3) Discuss modification to contract plans and specifications with all parties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range
$80,103.00 - $104,138.00
