Job Summary
Incumbent serves as a technical specialist in environmental risk assessment and data analysis for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Kansas City District (NWK). Work involves independently conducting risk and data analysis, and supporting unique and unprecedented technical and policy decisions relating to environmental management and remediation.
Major Duties
- Serves as project risk assessor and/or industrial hygienist/health and safety professionalproviding sound technical advice and assistance to Environmental Engineering Branch
- Provides expert advice, guidance, and assistance on risk- and/or IH/health and safety related matters during the planning, investigation, design, and remedial action phases of environmental restoration projects
- Evaluates and assesses complex data which may include individual chemicals and mixtures of chemicals for which health-related values have not been established
- Plans, organizes schedules, and reviews work for compliance with established DoD, DA, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards

BASIC REQUIREMENT: 1. To meet the minimum education requirement for this Toxicology (GS-0415) position. (Transcripts must be included with your application to support your response)

You must have a Degree in toxicology; or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology, and 12 semester hours in toxicology.2. A. You must have a degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR

A. You must have a degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR

Have a combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 4. A. You must have a Bachelor's Degree/higher level degree in an academic field related to the health sciences appropriate to the work of the position. 5. A. You must have a Degree in: biological sciences, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
B. Have a combination of education and experience -- Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to the basic requirements noted above, you must also qualify for this position based on experience. To qualify for the GS-13, you must demonstrate specialized experience at the GS-12, or equivalent, grade level. Specialized experience is defined as:
1) Leading a group of risk assessors and industrial hygienists/safety professionals on environmental projects;
2) Assigning work based on priorities and project complexities;
3) Designing plans for environmental site investigations and remediation;
4) Authoring reports outlining potential human health and ecological risks; and
5) Working with project teams to identify solutions to complex human health and environmental risks. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range
$89,417.00 - $116,240.00
