Job Summary

You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY in the Arctic Programs and Exercises Department of UNDERSEA WARFARE DEV CEN DET ASL.

Major Duties

  • You will serve as the command's technical expert on Arctic matters enabling the ice camps to safely and effectively operate the Arctic Ocean environment.
  • You will lead engineering efforts required to evaluate commercial systems and engineer solutions for the Arctic environment.
  • You will provide technical guidance to visiting researchers participating at the ice camps.
  • You will lead ice floe characterization, mechanics and dynamics research in an operational setting from drifting ice flow in the Arctic.
  • You will create research plans, analysis, reports, and executive briefings.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience providing engineering and scientific support for Arctic research or engineering efforts. *Experience designing and developing new systems, enhancing current systems, conducting development and operational tests, analyzing results and producing engineered solutions. *Experience serving as the senior scientific representative for the Navy's Ice Exercise (ICE) program for the Arctic region with respect to sea ice conditions and the environment. *Experience creating technical research plans, analysis, reports and executive briefings. *Experience developing, testing, evaluating and validating new methods and guidelines to resolve highly complex and unique Arctic challenges for drifting ice camps and submarine operations. Pay Range

$102,104.00 - $132,739.00
