Job Summary

You will serve as a Interdisciplinary (Physical Scientist/Oceanographer/Geophysicist/Mathematician) in the Naval Oceanographic Office, Mine Warfare Department, MIW Analysis and Database Division of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Major Duties

  • You will participate in acoustic and geophysical data collection and signal processing applied to oceanographic data collection and processing.
  • You will be a Project Leader in development and maintenance of Mine Warfare (MIW) environment data bases.
  • You will perform image generation, bottom contact analysis, and roughness analysis of sonar imagery collected during survey operations.
  • You will use high level programming languages, skill in database development and management, and skill in Geographic Information Systems.
  • You will coordinate among multiple contractors and scientific disciplines.
  • You will perform up to 50% of work assignment in the field aboard survey platforms.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing, maintaining, and improving acoustic and geophysical databases; Assisting in the development of new methods and techniques of validating data using mathematics and statistics; Using programming languages in scientific applications with capabilities and limitations of available computer hardware, data base administration or existing software and effective uses; Planning and completing projects accurately, completely and scientifically sound for overall effectiveness. Pay Range

$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
