This position will design, develop, and maintain relational database applications for NCPN I&M Program projects. These applications mange information for natural resource purposes. Therefore, you must have demonstrated experience in designing and developing relational database applications using SQL, VBA, and Microsoft Access or SQL Server. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

You must meet the Basic Education Requirements for either the GS-0401 General Biologist, or the GS-0408 Ecologist. BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES SERIES, 0401: EDUCATION: A Bachelor's (or higher) degree that included a major study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position.

A COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Courses equivalent to a major study, as shown in statement A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR ECOLOGY SERIES, 0408: EDUCATION: Bachelor's (or higher) degree that included a major study in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. -AND-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: GS-09:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) designing database systems using relational database design principles such as tables, relationships, and integrity rules, etc.; (2) using relational database applications for maintaining analyzing, and monitoring natural resource data; and (3) designing or developing database applications for the purpose of entering, extracting, maintaining, updating and disseminating data; (4) Conducting data management training sessions.

OR Have completed a Master's degree or two (2) full years of graduate level study (36 semester units or the number of units your school uses to describe two graduate years of academic study) leading to a Master's degree or LL.B., J.D, in biological sciences, natural resource management, information technology, or related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work.

OR

Have a combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described in "A" and "B" above. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert them to semester hours by multiplying by 2/3rds. To combing education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 18 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then take the number of months experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Note Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify for the GS-09 level. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. Pay Range

$52,905.00 - $68,777.00
