Job Summary

You will serve as a Civil Engineer (0810), Environmental Engineer (0819), or Mechanical Engineer (0830) in the Public Works Business Line Office in the of NAVAL FAC ENGR CMD EUROPE SW ASIA.

Major Duties

  • Explain environmental regulations to personnel to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Allocate resources to manage and align business operations in support of short or long range plans.
  • Interpret guidelines relative to water and wastewater utility systems to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and execute a budget a wastewater compliance program to ensure funds are available for programs.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provide technical evaluations of water and wastewater treatment operation and maintenance programs; 2) Solve engineering problems associated with the operation of water and wastewater systems (i.e., contaminant level and proper disposal, simple to advanced water treatment processes, emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, wastewater collection and treatment system, neutralization process system, disinfection, filtration and advanced drinking water treatments); 3) Advise personnel on water quality problems associated with domestic and industrial wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal as well as potable water system operations at shore installations; and 4) Advise on water quantity/quality solutions and project design/construction with applicable Public Works Department (PWD) personnel and the current water and wastewater systems' master plans. WORK ENVIRONMENT: During site visits and facilities there is some minor exposure to unfavorable conditions, uneven walking surfaces, industrial operations (noise, fumes, dust) and construction activities. Must be cognizant and observant of construction site safety procedures. Civilian employment in the competitive service in foreign areas shall be limited to a period of 5 continuous years unless interrupted by at least 2 years of physical presence in the United States or non-foreign area. Pay retention may be extended to an eligible Department of Defense (DoD) employee who applies through a formal recruitment program and is selected for a position at an overseas location.

Pay Range

$78,681.00 - $102,288.00
