Major Duties

  • You will manage design and construction projects to ensure the structure, systems, functions, and performance adhere to pre-established standards and requirements.
  • You will develop and maintain project schedules and budgets to conform with project and customer requirements.
  • You will review construction project parameters (e.g., integration, scope, time, cost, quality, communication, procurement, risk management) to recommend changes that will improve the overall project results.
  • You will monitor construction activity to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and scheduling.

Qualifications

This is an interdisciplinary position which may be filled by any of the following series: Fire Protection Engineer (0804), Architect (0808), Civil Engineer (0810), Mechanical Engineer (0830), Electrical Engineer (0850). In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience. GS-12: Your resume must clearly demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing construction management and construction engineering for alternations, repair, and new construction of a broad range of facilities; 2) Preparing construction cost estimates in support of contract negotiations; 3) Reviewing and approving all contract technical submittals (e.g. design drawings, product selection, environmental protection plans, schedules and/or quality control plans); 4) Monitoring construction contractor quality and safety programs by conducting site visits; and 5) Reviewing pre-final contract drawing and specifications.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Supporting construction engineering for alternations, repair, and new construction of a broad range of facilities; 2) Using computer software to prepare construction cost estimates; 3) Reviewing contract technical submittals for technical adequacy and completeness; and 4) Monitoring construction contractor quality and safety programs by conducting site visits.

Pay Range

$71,274.00 - $111,062.00
