Job Summary

You will serve as an Environmental Engineer or Physical Scientist in the Environmental Business Line of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Headquarters.

Major Duties

  • You will perform headquarters-level environmental compliance program management in one or more of several environmental compliance programs:
  • e.g., air, waste water, storm water, drinking water, hazardous waste, solid waste, storage tanks, toxic substances, oil and hazardous substance spill prevention/response,
  • overseas policy, metrics, performance tracking, process improvement, budget/program review, training programs, and Environmental Management System (EMS) sustainment.
  • You will analyze environmental data from various information reporting systems to monitor program performance and communicate results.
  • You will develop instructions, guidelines and procedures for environmental programs to ensure environmental compliance.
  • You will conduct environmental process improvement activities with groups in order to standardize and formalize business processes.

Qualifications

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF) FOR FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (0819) SERIES: If you are applying as an Environmental Engineer (0819), you must be currently registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Guam. You must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. In addition to the Basic Education Requirements/SPF for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Performing environmental compliance program management in one or more of several environmental compliance programs; 2) Leading implementation of environmental program strategies to improve performance; 3) Coordinating with higher headquarters to ensure programs meet their expectations and overall agency environmental goals; 4) Developing instructions, guidelines and procedures for environmental programs to ensure environmental compliance; 5) Providing environmental technical oversight of a Command's Echelon III and IV environmental functions and 6) Conducting environmental process improvement activities to standardize and formalize business processes. Pay Range

$121,316.00 - $157,709.00
