Major Duties
One or more positions may be filled.
At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Develop and support technology assessment, knowledge transfer and technical support activities within the regulatory programs that implement federal environmental laws such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Superfund Amendments and Authorization Act (SARA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) (including their implementing regulations).
- Identify federal and state remedial project manager needs for technical information required to assess and select technologies for soil, sediment, and groundwater characterization and remediation.
- Lead technology and knowledge transfer activities including report writing, training course development and delivery, webinars, and multimedia communication products like web content and videos for specific site characterization and remediation technologies and approaches.
- Provide independent analysis and interpretation of available data, work with remedial project managers and site team members to better understand technical issues.

Qualifications
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as applying scientific or engineering techniques in support of projects regarding hazardous waste cleanup; and assisting in the development of guidance, policies and regulations. To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as evaluating scientific or engineering techniques, methods, or efficiency of projects regarding hazardous waste cleanup; and developing guidance, policies, and regulations.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of current environmental cleanup practices and the status of new and emerging research and marketplace developments for hazardous waste cleanup technologies.
Ability to serve as a technical expert for site characterization and remediation technologies and approaches.
Ability to gather technical information and provide assessment of the effectiveness and limitations of relevant technologies.
Ability to conduct site specific support to evaluate characterization and cleanup strategies, approaches, technologies, etc.
Skill in interpreting results to identify lessons learned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range
$83,398.00 - $128,920.00
