Job Summary

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Environmental Department of Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Northwest. You will manage the hazardous and solid waste programs including pollution prevention, TSCA, EPCRA, and waste military munitions. Salary range for GS-11: $70,120-$91,155 Salary range for GS-12: $84,045-$109,264

Major Duties

  • You will develop annual and multi-year budgets for in-house and contracted environmental compliance and pollution prevention projects.
  • You will analyze results of environmental studies to determine corrective action for compliance issues.
  • You will brief activity management on the Environmental Compliance programs with regards to the impact to the organization.
  • You will compose technical correspondence to communicate designs, plans, and objectives to management officials, staff, and customers.

Qualifications

GS-12 position: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using environmental concepts, principles, and procedures to solve complex problems involving diverse aspects of environmental compliance and protection; 2) Interpreting environmental sampling analyses to identify potential hazardous conditions or environmental concerns in existing or proposed facilities or activities; 3) Using standard data gathering to collect and review technical information on environmental activities or quality to identify and solve problems of a procedural or factual nature; and 4) Communicating both orally and in writing to prepare and conduct briefings and presentations.
