Job Summary

You will serve as a Interdisciplinary Oceanographer/Physical Scientist, in the Riverine Branch of the Warfighting Support Center (WSC), Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO), of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Major Duties

  • You will provide tailor-made riverine environmental analyses.
  • You will develop Standard Operating Procedures or User Guides for production use.
  • You will provide technical and scientific guidance to junior personnel and other team members to develop a better team.
  • You will provide guidance to multidisciplinary teams of scientists.
  • You will provide significant subject matter expertise in examining data quality utilizing established procedures and demonstrate ability to design new analysis standards and quality control techniques.
  • You will evaluate scientific information and prepare formal written opinions and conclusions to satisfy requirements.
  • You will give formal presentations to visitors or at national meetings or conferences to better inform customers of NP2 capabilities.
  • You will recommend course of action for efficient accomplishment of work assigned to subordinate team members.
  • You will review all data collected to ensure it fulfills the collection parameters to satisfy the customers requirements.
  • You will develop new methods, techniques, or precedents to plan and produce riverine/estuarine products.
  • You will provide and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current environmental quality, bathymetry/hydrography, circulation, hydrology, and oceanography through personal contacts, literature, seminars, conferences, and formal training.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying theories, principles, and techniques of oceanography/hydrographic, remote sensing, image processing, and geographic information systems. Experience providing tailor-made riverine environmental analyses. Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures or User Guides for production use. Experience providing technical and scientific guidance to junior personnel and other team members to develop a better team. Experience providing significant subject matter expertise in examining data quality utilizing established procedures and demonstrates ability to design new analysis standards and quality control techniques. Experience reviewing all data collected to ensure it fulfills the collection parameters to satisfy the customers' requirements. Pay Range

$74,596.00 - $96,978.00
