Job Summary

Serves as Los Angeles District's senior specialist and section chief in Coastal Planning. Serves as a Division wide expert in Coastal Planning for shore protection and navigation projects within the 1200 miles of coast along the Pacific coastline of California.

Major Duties

  • Oversees planning reports including Project Management Plans, Feasibility Studies, General and Limited Reevaluation Reports, Detailed Project Reports, Dredge Material Management Studies, and General Design Memoranda.
  • Provides plan formulation and policy compliance and leads technical review of coastal planning reports.
  • Participates at public hearings, regional and national level meetings, committees and professional conferences.
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of the Section, which is performed by a diverse group of staff with professional skills in civil engineering, physical science, hydrology, soils, community planning, ecology and support personnel.

In addition to meeting the basic education requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of experience which includes performing water resources planning studies; producing civil works planning reports; conducting review processes; and coordinating team members to meet mission objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-12. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$104,182.00 - $135,440.00
