Job Summary

Major Duties

  • Direct the development and implementation of an intricate program of natural resource inventory and monitoring and related activities.
  • Direct the efforts of the Inventory and Management technical and scientific advisors in developing and implementing Vital Signs Monitoring plans and protocols.
  • Identify resource management Inventory and Management needs and develop work plans and schedules, cost estimates, and funding proposals to accomplish network goals.
  • Collect, organize, and make available natural resource data to produce useful program information through analysis, synthesis, and modeling.
  • Exercise the full range of technical and administrative supervisory responsibilities for a staff that includes permanent and temporary federal National Park Service personnel.

Qualifications

Since this is an Interdisciplinary position, you must meet the BASIC educational requirement for at least ONE series *AND* meet the ADDITIONAL qualifications requirement option in order to qualify for this position. BASIC EDUCATION FOR: Biologist GS-0401

Have completed a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

OR

Have a combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. BASIC EDUCATION FOR: Ecologist GS-0408

Have completed a bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours include at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts. BASIC EDUCATION FOR: Physical Scientist GS-1301

Have completed a bachelor's degree in Physical Science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

OR

Have a combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. The ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Requirement GS-13: Applicants must one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) collecting and organizing natural resource data; (2) developing projects that identify or help solve natural resource management problems; (3) monitoring expenditure of funds; and (4) developing work plans, schedules, cost estimates, and funding proposals. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".

Pay Range

$111,286.00 - $144,676.00
