Job Summary
A successful candidate in this position will serve as a lead technical authority to monitor, provide advice on, and evaluate all aspects of operations of nuclear and/or hazardous facilities at the Pantex and Y-12 sites, and for ensuring the adequacy of communications between the management and operating (M&O) contractor and NNSA management. More than one position may be filled from this vacancy announcement.
Major Duties
As a Lead Operations Engineer/Lead Operations Physical Scientist, you will:
- Supports the Agency by providing expert advice and support to them in the areas of operations, production, and nuclear safety oversight. Responsible for coordinating contractor oversight on daily operations by assigned Facility Representatives.
- Responsible for coordinating contractor oversight on daily operations for nuclear and non-nuclear hazardous facilities and providing expert operational oversight guidance to all NPO organizations. Coordinates with NPO organizations and contractor staff and management on all aspects of operational, maintenance, and production activities. Responsible for contractor management control systems and procedures related to DOE/NNSA and national nuclear, radiological and/or hazardous material management, and environmental compliance program requirements, policies and practices, and contractual obligations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience applying nuclear safety, conduct of operations, explosive safety, radiological or industrial safety, and/or environmental compliance program requirements, policies and practices, providing thoroughly sound technical advice that directly affects the safety and well-being of Federal and contractor employees. Examples of specialized experience can include: leading technical evaluations or assessmentsor audits or surveillances,and conducting safety or quality assurance analysis of industrial, nuclear or non-nuclear facility operating systems and design; and/or construction; and
preparing, reviewing and finalizing evaluations or assessments of facility maintenance or facility operations activities; and
analyzing performance trends and examining records and activities to determine strengths and weaknesses in contractor performance. Pay Range
$107,807.00 - $164,858.00
