Job Summary

This position is with the US Army Installation Management Command, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security (DPTMS), Training Division, Range Branch, Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Section, located in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Major Duties

  • Responsibly account for Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) equipment, acquire, turn-in maintain government owned equipment as required.
  • Provide cost comparison estimates of in-house versus outsourcing LRAM activities; act as the installation Subject Matter Expert (SME) for additional contracted labor/project support, and equipment procurement.
  • Ensure personnel engaged in LRAM activities comply with range, environmental and installation regulations; knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes.
  • Consult with DPTMS, Directorate of Public Works (DPW)-Environmental and Natural Resources, and NEPA Personnel to assist in interpretation of guidelines and regulations set forth by both Federal and State agencies.
  • Provide feedback to the Installation Training Area Management (ITAM) Coordinator on assignment of tasks and progress of work assignments.
  • Provide technical expertise necessary to plan and execute training land repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects for the entire LRAM program.
  • Work directly with the DPW, Environmental Division to scope and determine proper land restoration activities given the location of the project.
  • Prepare and maintain a project/work log of individual LRAM projects from inception through implementation to evaluation.
  • Provide quotes and specifications as required to the ITAM Coordinator for purchasing and lifecycle replacement of equipment.
  • Coordinate and direct LRAM work operations in the field, ensuring timely performance of work and attainment of qualify standards

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves assisting with implementing all aspects of the Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance program; providing technical expertise necessary to plan and execute training land repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects; coordinate Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) activities with all relevant offices; lead heavy equipment operators and direct work and projects in the field to satisfy necessary environmental, training, and weather constraints; experience operating heavy and light equipment in all weather conditions; providing technical expertise for land management activities associated with forest systems similar to west central Wisconsin. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Natural Resources/Soil Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide our total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Pay Range

$62,236.00 - $80,912.00
