Job Summary
You will serve as a METEOROLOGIST in the Meteorology Department of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL. This job opportunity announcement has a first cut-off date. Major Duties
- You will design or develop new equipment or methods for meteorological data collection, remote sensing, or related applications.
- You will analyze and monitor data for describing and forecasting weather.
- You will modify code and run scripts using advanced programming language (e.g., Fortran, Python, PERL, or shell scripting) to enhance weather modelling capabilities.
Qualifications
GS-11:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Utilizing various programs (i.e. FORTRAN, C, and Unix Shell Scripts) to assist with writing computer software; 2) Maintaining computer software and hardware to support meteorological data; 3) Recommending new computer technologies to assist with meteorological instructional needs. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume. At the GS-11 grade level, you may also qualify based upon the education or the combination of education stated in the Education Section of this announcement. GS-09:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Assisting in writting computer software for meteorological applications (i.e. Python, MATLAB, or Unix Shell Scripts) ; 2) Collecting real time meteorological data from operational centers, and 3) Inputting meteorological data into computer systems. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume. At the GS-09 grade level, you may also qualify based upon the education or the combination of education stated in the Education Section of this announcement. $64,535.00 - $101,503.00
