Job Summary

You will serve as a METEOROLOGIST in the Meteorology Department of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

Major Duties

  • You will assess assigned programs, professional personnel and processes to produce effective systems and software.
  • You will modify code and run scripts using advanced programming language (e.g., Fortran, Python, PERL, or shell scripting) to enhance weather modelling capabilities.
  • You will discuss meteorological issues about synoptic and dynamic situations that impact.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing meteorological methods and theory to assist with assessing and/or writing computer software in programs such as FORTRAN, C, and Unix Shell Scripts; 2) Assisting with meteorological instructional needs by designing and implementing new computer technologies; 3) Providing guidance to faculty on the use of meteorological instructional software. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume. GS-11:

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Utilizing various programs (i.e. FORTRAN, C, and Unix Shell Scripts) to assist with writing computer software; 2) Maintaining computer software and hardware to support meteorological data; 3) Recommending new computer technologies to assist with meteorological instructional needs. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume. At the GS-11 grade level, you may also qualify based upon the education or the combination of education stated in the Education Section of this announcement. Pay Range

$75,515.00 - $117,669.00
