Job Summary
This position is located in the National Geospatial Center of Excellence (NGCE) Geospatial Technology Branch, in the Soil Science and Resource Assessment (SSRA) Deputy area. The primary purpose of the position is to assess, implement and deliver innovative geospacial technology to improve Agency efficiency or enhance conservation planning.
Major Duties
- Defines user requirements and business cases for procedures, techniques and tools using geospatial data with Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
- Maintains up to date information of state of the art GIS, Remote Sensing and Global Position System (GPS) technologies.
- Develops and designs natural resource data analysis procedures, products and services.
- Provides advanced technical leadership in training and technical guidance to NRCS personnel for maintaining uniformity nationwide on natural resource geospatial applications.
Qualifications
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No Award or General Adjustment SF-50's will be accepted). A. A Bachelor's or higher degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position (Transcripts are required)

B. A combination of education and experience. this includes courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.(Transcripts are required)

In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: GS-12 Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: develop geospatial analysis procedures for a wide variety of conservation and natural resources programs; review and evaluate potential applications of GIS, GPS, and mobile technology for use in support of Agency programs and activities; develop geoscience tools to solve natural resource problems through software features and functionality; and provide advanced technical assistance to customers regarding complex applications of geospatial, GIS, and GPS technology. Pay Range
$82,696.00 - $107,509.00
