Job Summary

This position is part of the Army Career Development Program and is a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army. Serves as a Park Ranger at John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The water resources development project has a mission to manage and conserve parks and natural resources, consistent with ecosystem principles, while providing quality sustainable public outdoor recreation experiences.

Major Duties

  • Serves as a Park Ranger patrolling project lands and waters to prevent unauthorized use, trespass, destruction of project land, water, facilities, and other environmental resources.
  • Performs project operations including Recreation, Environmental Stewardship, Visitor Assistance and Interpretation.
  • Plans, promotes and executes special programs such as environmental awareness events, interpretive programs, safety programs, and volunteer programs.
  • Coordinates short range planning and execution of programs such as recreation and park administration, shoreline management, forestry, fisheries and wildlife, and soil conservation
  • Participates in the development of various planning documents including Masters Plans and Operational Management Plans (OMP) for management of natural resources.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant education and experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger): A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Degree must be completed by December 2019. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Pay Range

$33,949.00 - $44,130.00
