Major Duties
You will:
- Serves as a regional technical authority in providing expert advice and assistance to state, local, and/or tribal governments on matters pertaining to air pollution and control strategy modeling in support of the Clean Air Act.
- Apply LINUX and other PC computing operating systems and complex software and scripting to conduct air quality modeling evaluations.
- Coordinate and ensure the accuracy of comments to the State on the EPA's modeling evaluation and serves as the technical lead in resolving issues with the State's modeling staff.
- Write technical support documentation for Federal Register notices to supplement EPA's analyses.
- Make formal presentation of a technical and policy nature before EPA's senior air management team (both regional and headquarters level), and other federal, state, and local agency officials, elected representatives, private industry, and public and private groups.
Qualifications
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as performing/reviewing photochemical modeling and developing associated inputs for Clean Air Act (CAA) programs (examples... Regional Haze, NAAQS designations/re-designations, Toxics, Pollution Transport).Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Ability to advice and assist state, local and/or tribal governments on matters pertaining to air pollution and control strategy modeling.
Knowledge of LINUX and other PC computing operating systems.
Ability to perform scripting to conduct air quality modeling evaluations.
Ability to lead in resolving issues with the state's modeling staff, EPA modeling staff and policy makers at both the state and federal levels.
Skilled in written communication.
Ability to communicate orally. Pay Range
$92,159.00 - $119,810.00
