Major Duties
- Prepare management and scientific reports regarding the results of protection, mitigation, restoration, inventory, monitoring, and research activities.
- Assist in the negotiation of cooperative and inter-agency agreements and other cooperative instruments needed to effectively carry out resource stewardship goals
- Develop and carry out statistically valid data collection protocols for the monitoring of physical resources and the results of protection, mitigation, and restoration projects.
- Develop and prepare major portions of the resources management plan dealing with the physical sciences.
- Negotiate cooperative and inter-agency agreements and other cooperative instruments needed to effectively carry out resource stewardship goals.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: EDUCATION: Bachelor's or higher with a major in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

Combination of Education and Experience: This education must be equivalent to one of the majors shown above and include at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
-AND- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: GS-9:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) work planning, monitoring, and reporting on the condition of natural resources; (2) collecting and recording field data and identifying species; (3) measuring and tracking conditions of environment; (4) drafting work plans and implementation strategies; and (5) investigating natural resources to identify, protect, or interpret them properly.

Education: Successful completion of two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate level degree in physical science, physics, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of completed graduate education beyond the first year by 18 (or 27 for quarter hours). Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education. GS-11:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) monitoring, reporting and presenting reports on the condition of natural resources; (2) recommending, developing and implementing plans to address physical science problems; (3) collecting and overseeing the collection of field data; (4) measuring environment variables, drafting and finalizing work plans and implementation strategies; and (5) investigating natural resources to identify, protect, or interpret them properly.

Education: Successful completion of at least three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in physical science, physics, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience-education as described in A and B above that, when converted to percentages, equal at least 100% of the total requirement. When combining specialized experience and graduate education, only units in excess of the first two years (36 semester hours) may be used to meet the educational requirement. Pay Range
$60,415.00 - $95,023.00
