Job Summary

You will serve as a Physical Scientist in the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.

Major Duties

  • You will develop and implement improved numerical models and analyses.
  • You will Implement, upgrade, evaluate, and maintain activity data assimilation and numerical modeling software in an operational context.
  • You will present scientific results in a general public forum.
  • You will produce technical documents for inter-agency distribution.
  • You will participate in working groups and committees to provide authoritative technical perspective.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements listed below, for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Programming computers in an advanced programming language such as FORTRAN, PYTHON, WEB SOFTWARE.

- Developing numerical models and analyses for atmospheric, oceanic, or other technical assessments.

- Implementing, upgrading, evaluating, and maintaining automated systems to acquire and decode data.

- Interpreting software engineering techniques to develop and maintain automated, real-time systems. - Utilizing advanced operating systems such as LINUX. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:

Pay Range

$90,512.00 - $117,669.00
